Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Lyn Carew Integrative & Cognitive Therapist

Hello – and welcome!

My name is Lyn Carew.  I’m here to offer help where needed, in my areas of expertise. Although specialising as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, when appropriate I will also work using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)  Compassionate FocusedTherapy (CFT),  Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and other approaches.  I respond specifically to each individual and together we would determine the best approach for your current situation.   I believe much can be gained by being flexible and discerning the unique and special needs of each individual.

I believe that individuals have a creative, resourceful desire and ability to find meaning and to resolve life’s challenges and difficulties.  Sometimes though, our attempts to overcome unpleasant situations and experiences can inadvertently complicate them and cause further pain.  Responses that might have helped in the past now keep us firmly stuck in cycles of distress.

It is my aim as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to support you in understanding the origins and reinforcing characteristics of problems.  Together we can find ways of building upon your resources and finding new strategies to enable progression towards beneficial change and psychological well-being.   It is my intention to introduce you to tried and tested strategies, creatively constructed by both of us, that acknowledge your individuality and help you develop towards a more fulfilled, peaceful and healthy life.

Much has been said regarding the work of a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – some of which can be inclined to be somewhat misleading or even inaccurate. If you would like to find out more about my way of working with CBT please refer to  the page Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

To access availability of therapy sessions or training please refer to Therapy & Training pages.    Maria, whose comment can be read below, took advantage of low cost counselling sessions which can be accessed through AAAIB Counselling Centre, where I am currently delivering Cognitive Behaviour Therapy training and supervision.  For more information contact me or www.aaaib.co.uk

  1. This is fantastic Lyn. Thank you for all your help pointing me in the right direction, and arranging for me to see your student, Pat. As you know, I DID manage to overcome my dreadful fear of flying, proved by a great trip to Venice! Keep up the good work! Love from Maria Heseltine.
